Which 11+ books should we start with?

Start with a learn-the-method book for each subject (such as Bond How to do Verbal Reasoning), then move to 10-minute tests to build speed, and save full practice papers for the final months.

How much reading does my child need to do for the 11+?

Aim for 20 to 30 minutes of reading every day from Year 4. Reading volume is the biggest single driver of vocabulary and comprehension scores.

Q: Do I need GL or CEM books?

Check which exam your target schools use. Most areas now use GL Assessment. Use the exam style filter to show only matching books; general maths, English and reading books suit both.

Practice papers, maths and English books, reading lists, creative writing, games and exam day kit. Tell us your child's year and exam, and we'll show what fits.

11+ reading lists

How to buy for the 11+ without overbuying

1️⃣Learn the method first

Start each subject with one explanation book, such as Bond "How to do", so your child knows what every question type is asking.

2️⃣Then build speed

Short 10-minute tests, a few times a week, build accuracy under time pressure without long sessions.

3️⃣Save papers for the end

Full practice papers work best in the last two or three months, under exam conditions with a clock.

How do you choose what goes in the shop?

We only list things we would use with our own children: books that complement our apps rather than repeat them, a balance of paper practice and reading, and kit exam centres actually ask for.

Does buying through these links cost more?
